Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club (Bay Course)

Seaview (Bay Course)

"A man who can putt is a match is a match for anyone" - Willie Park

(Played on Sunday, November 27th, 2017.)

Seaview Resort is located in the town of Galloway, New Jersey.

Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club.

About an hour drive from where we live, the Bay Course is one of the best public courses in New Jersey. The Seaview Resort is a short drive from Atlantic City. We had so much fun playing it, we wanted to play it again almost immediately after we finished our round.

With the third member of our group, Thomas, busy with work, it was only the two Chris's of the Sunday Golfers out on the Bay course. Even though it was November, and the temperature never got above 53 degrees, Chris Pusey wore his classic shorts and short-sleeve polo, while Chris Colman wore pants, long-johns, two jackets, and a long sleeve undershirt. Two entirely different personalities to say the least.

Chris Pusey teeing off the 4th hole in a blistering 45 degrees.

With a few groups on the tee box at the start of the day, we were shuffled off to the fourth hole to start our round so that we wouldn't be held up, and finish with the third hole. The starter assured us that we would have most of the course to ourselves. We obliged and played in a quick 3 hours and 15 minutes.

With several shots of Atlantic City in the background while you play, the Bay Course is just flat-out fun golf. It is a pretty open, links-like course that is very well-maintained, making the day even more enjoyable.

There are two golf courses at the Seaview Resort, the Bay Course and the Pines Course. Donald Ross and Hugh Wilson designed the Bay Course, and although it is not overly long, when the wind is blowing like it was when we played, it makes for a challenging day with club selection.

Slightly elevated green on the par 4 4th. Notice the fairway/collection area wrapping around it.

Another enjoyable aspect of the course is that every green has a little bit of fairway wrapping a few yards around it. This gives everyone more options than simply hacking out of rough.

Only Chris Colman has played both the Bay and Pines previously, and is adamant that the Bay Course is the more enjoyable of the two.

While neither of us scored particularly well overall, Chris Pusey played one of his best rounds and said that Seaview was now one of his new favorite courses.

We are already planning on taking plenty of more trips throughout the winter/spring to more of the top public courses in New Jersey, as well as other courses throughout the area as well. We hope you enjoyed our little write-up on Seaview (Bay). We will probably return for a round at the Pines course in the near future.

Westwood Golf Club

Westwood Golf Club "The harder you work, the luckier you get." - Gary Player (Played on February 19th, 2020) We have been trying to find the inspiration to write about Westwood for a long time now. It has been a course some of us have been playing for over 5 years. However, we never really got around to playing a full 18 holes at Westwood together until recently. So, this review is well overdue. We are going to feature a few photos from our day, as well as some from our rounds over the past few years that we have collected. If you follow us on Instagram (@TheSundayGolfers) you might recognize a few of them. Colman on the par five 1st hole. Thomas teeing off the par five 1st hole. Christopher launching one right down the middle on the par five opener at Westwood. Westwood has the easiest three holes to start a golf course you might ever see. The first hole is a dead straight, 450 yard par five, with only a couple bunkers in front of the green to stop pe

Shore Gate Golf Club "Always make a total effort, even when the odds are against you." - Arnold Palmer (Played on May 12th, 2020) Coronavirus has put a bit of a hitch in our summer plans. When we were not allowed to play golf for a month and a half here in New Jersey, we all had to sit inside and find things to keep our minds occupied as we slowly went insane. Thankfully, our governor finally allowed our courses to open up in the beginning of May, so Colman and Chris decided to take full advantage and play a course we had not yet played. That is how we found ourselves down the shore at Shore Gate Golf Club. Chris Pusey on the opening hole at Shore Gate Golf Club Shore Gate Golf Club has a private club atmosphere, but it is fully open to the public. While the greens were recently aerated which put a bit of a damper on the round, it did not take away from just how outstanding the rest of the course was. The course is tight. Keeping the ball in the fairway is the

The Sunday Golfers Year In Review 2019 Edition

Our 2019 Year In Review "Touch is something you create by hitting a million golf balls." - Lee Trevino While we apologize for the lack of posting on our blog as of late, we have all been very busy to travel around and play new courses in our area together. With work, school, and other engagements, finding the right time get together and play is not easy.  However, that has not stopped us from playing every chance we get. January 26th - We began our year at our local municipal Pitman Golf Course . While it may not be Bethpage Black level of municipal, this course was designed by the same man who designed East Lake Golf Club in Georgia, where they play the Tour Championship every year. It is not the most challenging golf course in the area, but its classic design makes it fun to play every single time we te
