Masters Week - 2018

Masters Week

"You get the feeling that Bobby Jones is standing out there with you." - Lee Janzen

(April 4th, 2018)

We are still alive here in New Jersey. March was a very unkind month for golfers here in the Northeast, as we were hit with Nor'easter after Nor'easter, and the snow totals piled up on a weekly basis.

The 12th at Augusta National.

Luckily, it's spring time, and it's the day before the Masters tournament begin, and the Sunday Golfers are beyond excited. After a ruthless winter that seems to never be ending, the Masters usually signifies the actual beginning of spring. Although according to our local weather radar, does not look like its going to get that much better.

We have not been playing as much golf as we hoped to be playing at this time, but with the Masters on the T.V. this week, we are all happy as can be.

This Masters seems a lot different than the past few years, mostly because the field is so good with so many outstanding players.  Choosing just one person to win is hard because you want to see three or four others win as well.

Tiger is back this year, and Phil has been playing great these past few months as well. The young players like Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, and dozens of others have just as much as a chance as the older guys, so choosing who to root for this week is tough.

We'll hopefully be playing back on a weekly basis soon. Although we won't have Augusta-like conditions that they are somehow able to maintain in Georgia, we just hope for some great fun on the best conditions possible, whether that be at out home course of Beckett or at the ultimate dream course of Pine Valley.

The Masters is always a special week every year, and probably the most famous major in the sport. We always look forward to it because it signifies the end of winter, which is always a good thing for golfers. This year, although the weather has not been getting better, the same though holds true.

Westwood Golf Club "The harder you work, the luckier you get." - Gary Player (Played on February 19th, 2020) We have been trying to find the inspiration to write about Westwood for a long time now. It has been a course some of us have been playing for over 5 years. However, we never really got around to playing a full 18 holes at Westwood together until recently. So, this review is well overdue. We are going to feature a few photos from our day, as well as some from our rounds over the past few years that we have collected. The first hole is a dead straight, 450 yard par five, with only a couple bunkers in front of the green to stop pe

Shore Gate Golf Club

Shore Gate Golf Club "Always make a total effort, even when the odds are against you." - Arnold Palmer (Played on May 12th, 2020) Coronavirus has put a bit of a hitch in our summer plans. When we were not allowed to play golf for a month and a half here in New Jersey, we all had to sit inside and find things to keep our minds occupied as we slowly went insane. Thankfully, our governor finally allowed our courses to open up in the beginning of May, so Colman and Chris decided to take full advantage and play a course we had not yet played. That is how we found ourselves down the shore at Shore Gate Golf Club. Chris Pusey on the opening hole at Shore Gate Golf Club Shore Gate Golf Club has a private club atmosphere, but it is fully open to the public. While the greens were recently aerated which put a bit of a damper on the round, it did not take away from just how outstanding the rest of the course was. The course is tight. Keeping the ball in the fairway is the

Our 2019 Year In Review "Touch is something you create by hitting a million golf balls." - Lee Trevino While we apologize for the lack of posting on our blog as of late, we have all been very busy to travel around and play new courses in our area together. With work, school, and other engagements, finding the right time get together and play is not easy.  However, that has not stopped us from playing every chance we get. January 26th - We began our year at our local municipal Pitman Golf Course . While it may not be Bethpage Black level of municipal, this course was designed by the same man who designed East Lake Golf Club in Georgia, where they play the Tour Championship every year. It is not the most challenging golf course in the area, but its classic design makes it fun to play every single time we te
